Endowment

An endowment is a fund set aside permanently. The principal is invested and a small percentage of the earnings is used for annual operating expenses or for the purpose the donor has specified, such as scholarships. 

An endowed gift is a gift that keeps giving - it provides a gift for generations to come. The endowment exists in perpetuity and provides a source of stable revenue for the school in addition to tuition and annual giving. 

The endowments are managed by investment professionals at the Diocese of Charlotte Foundation, which currently oversees over 300 endowments. For more information, please visit:

Yes. Christ the King welcomes scholarship opportunities for its students. An individual, group, or organization may establish a new scholarship named for the donor or in honor or memory of a person. The name specified by the donor will remain associated with an endowed scholarship or fund in perpetuity.

Any individual or family may establish a named endowment with $25,000 or more. The process of establishing an endowment requires answering several basic questions:

• How much do you wish to contribute to establish your endowment?

• How do you wish to make your contribution (cash, stock, real estate, IRS, etc.)

• Do you wish to name your endowment?

• Do you want to establish your endowment now or through a bequest in your will?
