St. Augustine Award for Outstanding Improvement

The St. Augustine Award recognizes a student whose growth, perseverance, and determination set them apart. This year, that student is Juan Ascencio-Flores.

From his very first days as a freshman to where he stands today, Juan's progress has been unanimous in the eyes of those who know him best. Teachers have watched him grow leaps and bounds - most notably in his confidence, his sense of responsibility, and his willingness to advocate for himself and his own learning.

That growth didn't happen by accident. Juan has shown up - before class, after class, and in every moment in between - putting in the work. And when things got tough, he didn't walk away. As one teacher put it: "There were moments when things didn't come easily, but instead of giving up, he locked in."

The results speak for themselves. He described his most recent essay as the best writing he has ever produced - a reflection not just of academic progress, but of character, heart, and strength.

Juan still has one more year at CTK, and those who know him best can't wait to see what he does with it. Congratulations, Juan!
