CTK Hires New Football Coach

Christ the King Catholic High School in Huntersville, NC, has hired Joshua Sims-Crowell Sr. as their football program’s new Head Coach. Coach Crowell will be the program’s second Head Coach, and will have an opportunity to lead a young team into its third season in the fall of 2018. “We are thrilled and excited to have Coach Crowell join the Christ the King community,” said athletic director Phil Harrington. “Not only is Coach Crowell going to bring a lot of knowledge and expertise about the game of football to our student-athletes, he is also going to bring a lot of excitement and enthusiasm to our players and fans.”

Coach Crowell played wide receiver and punt returner at North Carolina Central University, an FCS Division I school in Durham, NC. In addition to playing at NC Central, he also served as a Football Program Intern. After graduating, Coach Crowell knew that he wanted to get into coaching, so he started as the Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach at Neal Middle School before joining the coaching staff at Beddingfield High School in Wilson, NC. At Beddingfield, which was also the high school in which Coach Crowell attended, he served as the Running Backs Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator. In the last three seasons, Coach Crowell had a hand in winning two conference championships as well as producing three 1,000 yard rushers, two 1500+ yard passers, and two 1,000 yard receivers.

Coach Crowell had this to say about his new position at Christ the King: “I look forward to the opportunity to lead the Christ the King football program. I’m very eager to get started with a great group of student-athletes, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, and an outstanding community.”
