The St. Catherine of Bologna Award for the Arts honors the patron saint of artists - a woman who believed that art was not merely an expression of talent, but an act of devotion, something meant to serve others and build beauty for a greater purpose. This award goes not simply to the most talented student, but to the one who best embodies that spirit.

This year, that student is Ingrid Siega. 

Over four years in CTK's theater department, Ginny has been a constant and irreplaceable presence, contributing to six productions and leaving the program better than she found it. Audiences have seen her on stage and heard her voice lifted in song at Mass. But her most meaningful contributions often happened far from the spotlight. 

She mended costumes, painted sets, and designed props. She ran lines with castmates, taught harmonies, led choreography, and stayed to clean up when the work was done. She said yes to anything and everything - with generosity, humility, and a genuine love for the program and the people in it.

Theater builds more than performers. It teaches resilience, problem-solving, and the ability to take words on a page and turn them into something beautiful. Ginny embodied all of that - and then turned around and gave it back to those around her. As those who worked alongside her noted, the growth of CTK's theater program over the past four years would not have been possible without her.

Our students have brought something extraordinary to the stage with Hadestown: Teen Edition. From the first note to the final bow, this production showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our performers, musicians, and crew.

The show features powerful vocals, dynamic choreography, and stunning costumes that transport audiences into the mythic world of Orpheus, Eurydice, Hades, and Persephone. The live orchestra drives the energy of the jazz-infused score, while our massive video board transforms the stage with visuals that immerse the audience in the story like never before.

Every detail reflects months of creativity, collaboration, and hard work from students who have poured their hearts into this production.

This weekend, our CTK Advanced Theater students brough imagination, emotion, and incredible storytelling to life with two one-act performances: Oz and From the Bottom of Lake Missoula.

Our student performers delivered everything from whimsical, humorous adventures to powerful, thought-provoking moments, showcasing their creativity, talent, and heart. Whether re-imagining a classic journey down the yellow brick road or diving deep into a poignant story, our Crusaders lit up the stage.

The performance also highlighted our brand new giant screen, adding a new dimension and a world of possibilities to our set and stage design.

The Advanced Theatre class represented Christ the King with creativity, professionalism, and heart at the North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC) held at Watauga High School in Boone. Competing with their one-act play, At the Bottom of Lake Missoula, the cast earned an Excellent rating from the judges and received the special award for Purposeful Simplicity—a recognition of the group’s artistry, focus, and storytelling strength.

In addition, Mary Fisher and Noah Lorenzo were honored with the Character Relationships Award for their outstanding onstage chemistry and emotional depth.

What does it mean to be a Blumey Award Finalist?
The Blumey Awards, presented by Blumenthal Performing Arts, celebrate excellence in high school musical theatre across the Charlotte region. Blumey judges select one finalist from each participating school in each performance category to represent their production. These school-level finalists are then considered for the overall regional awards, making this both a personal honor and a celebration of the excellence of our entire cast and crew.

A special shoutout to Isabella and Devin, who will go on to compete for the Overall Best Actress and Best Actor awards at the Blumey Awards ceremony!
